Learn Effective Meditation Techniques

We intend to show you in this article how meditation can help alleviate pain - in fact you could even get rid of pain by using certain yoga techniques. The techniques that you learn are not at all difficult and you can get through them very quickly as they don’t take too much time. This is one of the most widely accepted and practiced methods to heal and relieve stress by all cultures and religions. When you meditate, you feel the stress draining out and the calmness and stillness flowing in and this is what makes this technique so wonderful.

All the mediation techniques can be performed in various ways: silent meditation, chanting, listening to chants or other soothing music meant for meditation. You could focus on an external object like a painting or you could internalize it and focus on your posture or your breathing. You need to find a place where you won’t be interrupted when you do this so never mind what technique you use, the place you are in is important. Then select a word, object, or one’s own breathing rhythm and find a comfortable position - to prevent falling asleep it is best not to be lying down. The aim of the exercise is to enter a state of ‘mindfulness’ in which one is aware of all around and at the same time is in a detached mental state from the immediate surroundings as in a trance. This is just the first state and it is what most people achieve however, there are states that can be even calmer and more relaxing.

Among several religions, meditation is a very important spiritual practice, which includes Jewish, Sufism and Christian mystical tradition. However, it is closely associated most with yoga and Buddhism. In the Buddhist context, the practice indicates the directing and controlling of the mind inwards, within oneself in the search for enlightenment. You can meditate anywhere and in any posture - while lying back, walking, sitting, whatever - however, the best position would be ‘zazen’ or sitting down.
